Dear YMCA Friends,

On behalf of the Board and staff of the YMCA, we are honored to share our 2025 Community Impact Report. This past year was defined by programs and partnerships that truly Empowered, Nurtured, and Strengthened our community.

In 2025, more than 115,000 children and teens were empowered by new opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive through after-school enrichment, teen leadership programs, and YMCA Project Cornerstone.

We nurtured community health and well-being by expanding life-changing programs—launching our new Get Summer initiative, which provided 4,000 teens with free summer memberships to stay active, safe, and connected. We brought families together through Healthy Kids Day events across Silicon Valley and offered vital support through Livestrong at the YMCA, the Diabetes Prevention Program, community health talks, and an expanded Safety Around Water program designed to include neurodiverse youth.

And we continued to strengthen our community’s foundation, serving 668,372 nutritious meals to children and seniors, and ensuring 16,150 underserved youth and adults had access to pathways that foster learning, belonging, and healthy living.

At the Y, we open doors—to opportunity, to community, and to a future where every person can reach their full potential. Thank you for being part of the community that makes this impact possible.

Empowering Youth

At the YMCA, we empower youth to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Through programs that build confidence, character, and leadership, we help young people reach their full potential.

Through the Y’s after school, Early Learning Readiness, Teen Leadership, Project Cornerstone, and camp programs, every Y experience is designed to nurture growth, inspire belonging, and open doors to brighter futures.

The YMCA has taught my son important values like respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness, and inclusiveness. The Y helps keep kids in our community safe—from gangs, from drugs, and even from spending too much time on the couch or glued to screens.

Nurturing Health

Health at the Y goes beyond exercise. It’s about belonging, balance, and support. Whether it’s disease prevention, swim lessons, youth sports or wellness coaching programs, we meet people where they are and help them take the next step on their wellness journey.

Together, we’re creating a community where healthy living is possible for everyone.

The breast cancer support program gave me the boost to go back out there and feel myself again. The staff always check up on me. It feels like it’s a family here.

Strengthening Community

The Y is where community comes together. We connect neighbors, bridge divides, and offer support when it’s needed most.

From food distribution, financial assistance, Safety Around Water, and inclusive programs, the Y ensures that everyone—regardless of age, background, or income—has the opportunity to thrive.

At home, I really don’t have that much food. I like being able to eat here after school. It means that I won’t be that hungry when I get home. My mom has to pay rent so we have less money for groceries...

Jason's Story

Jason’s son slipped into a creek in an instant, a terrifying moment that showed how vulnerable neurodiverse children are around water—160 times more likely to drown.

Searching for neurodiverse swim programs, Jason found that many were full or too expensive, limiting access for families. He turned to the Y, which expanded its free Safety Around Water program to include classes designed specifically for neurodiverse children. “At the Y, everyone is welcome—there’s no stigma,” Jason says.

Each year, hundreds of children across Silicon Valley gain skills that help them feel safe, included, and confident in the water. Safety Around Water provides opportunity for those who otherwise may not have it.

Kathy's Story

After retiring, Kathy became a regular participant at the Mt Madonna YMCA. Kathy has been a volunteer at the Y since 2021 and participates in the meal program several times a week.

“Participating in the meals program has been helpful for my health. I have heartburn. But since coming here, my heartburn is gone because of the good meals here. And I no longer have borderline chronic kidney disease.”

For Kathy, the Y feels like home, like a second family. She has gained new friendships, a meaningful purpose, receives regular nutritious meals, and a place to connect with her community.

Mindful Stewardship

YMCA of Silicon Valley is proud of our consistently high ratings on Charity Navigator and Guidestar. With a history of strong fiscal management and fundraising the Y continues to respond to emerging needs in our community. We provided critical programs and services to ensure our kids, families, and individuals have what they need to thrive.
